Beautiful Boya Lake... Amelia woke up at 7:30am in a really grumpy mood. She came and snuggled me for awhile - all elbows and knees and head bonks.
I got up with the kids and we had cereal at 9:15am while daddy snoozed. This is when Ollie and I made the dip net from the branch we found last night. When daddy got up, He hopped on his bike and found us a new site to park at for tonight. It was a gorgeous lake front spot with a tiny beach for the kids to paddle and chase minnows. We packed up in a hurry and drove the RV over. The Belgian family were just finishing packing up their truck. We chatted with them for awhile about their tri p and the very interesting "car top tent" system they had on their very rugged vehicle which they had shipped from Belgium for their adventures.
We pumped up (Jonathan pumped up) our dinghy and went for a motor around the lake. What a gorgeous lake!! We could launch right from our little site. We saw two beaver lodges up close. It was cool to see the extent of the logs and branches dragged under water. We explored the lake for quite awhile and Amelia fell asleep on my lap. It is so awesome that the kids enjoy the boat and have no hesitation getting their life jackets on.
Ollie and daddy jumped out at one point to explore the shoreline and they found a little frog. Ollie was pretty excited about that and had trouble listening to his dad who advised him not to try and catch it.
We rode in the dinghy to the dock and daddy had a swim and the kids had a nice play at the playground.
After the relaxing boat ride, we had some food and the kids paddled in the water. There were so many little fish and they would swim up and nibble at your feet. Ollie enjoyed this immensely.
Chili for dinner and smores at 8:15pm (laced with "sleep darts" or melatonin). Amelia was in bed and asleep by 8:45pm and Ollie followed suit by 9:15pm. This is considered an early night for these monkeys! The first real early night on the trip!
I Sat by the fire and relaxed and enjoyed the gorgeous lake view while Jonathan went out in the boat and tried some fishing but came back empty handed. Lots of fish jumping and the sound of loons calling made It pretty nice to be out there.
